THE DAY BETWEEN

TELEFILM CANADA, SODEC, IFP

The Day Between tells the story of siblings Caitlin and Kevin, who, though they share the same parents, exist in separate worlds inextricably linked by tragedy. In Caitlin’s universe, she was conceived out of grief—a replacement baby for her mother to hold after her brother’s death.  Kevin’s death has cast a shadow over everything, including Caitlin’s attempt to follow in their father’s footsteps as a writer. In Kevin’s world, there was no incident, and he has no sister, only a semi-successful career, an obsession with weight and exercise, and a tepid relationship with his parents. But as Caitlin sets out to translate her father’s bestselling novel, a memoir detailing a family tragedy, Kevin creeps into her dreams and her life. As Kevin and Caitlin’s fates blend and their concept of reality becomes suspect, we, too begin to lose our sense of what is real. The Day Between is a love story, a ghost story, and a psychological drama about how a single event can change the course of one family’s story or split it into two.  Currently supported by Telefilm Canada and The Harold Greenberg Fund. Executive produced by Jean-Marc Vallée.
